  • Do we both need to attend every session?

Ideally, couples attend sessions together to ensure both perspectives are heard and addressed equally. However, some practitioners may suggest occasional individual sessions to explore personal concerns that affect the relationship. This can help each partner gain clarity before returning to joint discussions. The structure depends on the couple’s goals and comfort level, which can be adjusted over time.

  • What if my partner isn’t sure about coming to counselling?

It’s common for one partner to feel hesitant or uncertain about counselling. The process can be explained as an opportunity to understand each other better, not as a sign of failure or blame. Sometimes, attending the first session together helps ease concerns and clarify what to expect. Couples counselling works best when both partners feel respected and involved in the process.

  • How can couples counselling help if we’re already considering separation?

Counselling can support couples at any stage, including those uncertain about continuing their relationship. It provides a structured space to communicate honestly and explore options with professional guidance. Some couples use counselling to part amicably, while others rediscover ways to reconnect. The focus remains on clarity, understanding and respectful decision-making for both individuals.
